Prep + Cooking time: 1 hr
Serves: 4 to 6
Recipe:
– Fish Fillets (Of your choice. I have used Tilapia here) – 2 trays (each with 2 fillets)
– Turmeric powder – 2 tsps
– Red chilli powder – 2n1/2 tsps
– Ginger-Garlic paste – 3/4 tsp
– Salt – 1n1/2 tsp or to taste
– Cumin powder & Coriander powder – optional
– Lemon juice – 1n1/2 tsp
– Maida/All-purpose flour – 1/4 cup
– Coriander
1. Take the fillets in a wide bowl; add some turmeric powder (to take off some fish odor) and give a quick rinse under cold water. Pat the fillets dry, cut into the desired sizes/shapes and set aside.
2. In a separate bowl prepare the marinade. Mix in turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder, finely chopped coriander leaves, lemon juice and about 2 tsps of oil. Mix well into a paste and spread/apply evenly to all the fish pieces.
3. In a plate take some all-purpose flour. (This is used to make sure the marinade does not come off when frying the fish.)
4. Heat a pan with the stove on medium setting. Add oil (at-least 1n1/2 tsp for each fish piece). Once the oil is hot enough add the fish pieces in the maida/all-purpose flour to lightly coat both sides and then into the pan.
5. Fry each side for 2 to 3 mins. Remove onto a plate and lightly pat with paper towels to remove excess oil.
6. Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve with hot & sweet ketchup or have it with rice and sambar/pappu charu for a fulfilling meal.
