Tilapia Fry

Tilapia Fry

Tilapia_Fry

I’ve never been a huge fan of seafood unlike my husband. I often find it bland and hence when eating out I always steer away from seafood dishes especially fish. We do occasionally cook fish at home and since I can spice it up to my taste-buds I usually have no qualms about savoring it. We usually get Tilapia or Salmon and either bake or fry them. Based on the ingredients and flavor profiles, we have the fish alongside rice or pasta.

Tilapia Fry Prep

This Tilapia fry recipe is pretty simple and quick. A basic spice mixture, grated ginger, coriander and lime juice are all that’s needed. I shallow-fried the fish here but the fish could be baked as well. We enjoyed the tilapia fillets with steaming hot rice and tomato garlic rasam which made for a simple, delicious and gratifying meal!

– 3/4th tsp turmeric
– 1n1/2 tsps red chilli powder
– 1/2 tsp coriander powder

Directions:
1. Wash the fish fillet in water with a 1/2 tsp of turmeric to remove any ‘fishy’ smell. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
2. Mix all the spices. Add grated ginger, finely chopped coriander leaves to it and and set aside.
3. Brush oil, lime juice and then the spice mixture on both sides of the fillet.
4. In a wide flat pan, heat about 3 Tbsps of oil. Add the fillets to the pan and shallow-fry for about 3 mins on each side.
5. Remove onto a plate lined with a paper towel to remove any excess oil. Then, transfer them to a serving plate. Drizzle a tsp of lime juice and garnish with coriander just before serving.
